This is our youngest son, Samuel. It’s not in any way obvious from the photo but for the last few months of his life he has tumbled from one illness to another.  Exhausting does not even begin to describe this season of our life.

But today, and everyday, I want to celebrate him, give thanks for him, nurture and love him. He is a precious gift from God and I pray that in the difficulties and tiredness I never forget that.

 3 Children are a gift from the Lord;
      they are a reward from him.
 4 Children born to a young man
      are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
 5 How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!
      He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.

Psalm 127
